Evolution Survey

Kelly Smith completed data collection in his survey of SC middle and high school science teachers concerning their attitudes towards evolution and the difficulties they encounter while teaching it. He is now analyzing the data for presentation at professional conferences in October and November, then publication in a peer-reviewed journal. He would be happy to distribute copies of the preliminary results, which are intriguing, to anyone interested. Over the summer Kelly began a research project with Courtney Lynch, a student at Hiram College in Ohio, who was home for the summer. She will take the same survey back to Ohio to repeat it there. This will allow comparison of the results from the two states, which should prove extremely interesting. In the fall, Kelly will be working with his creative inquiry team of Clemson students to produce materials for the High School science classroom based on the SC teacher feedback.
